Mayor's Board Decisions
Wasatch Front Regional Council deals with the growth in the states, air quality, and UTA road projects. With the rapid bus transit system coming through Bountiful in a few years, it is critical to understand the system and how it affects traffic and what impacts it will have on the roads in Bountiful. During the meetings when other committee members from the cities bring situations up that could potentially affect Bountiful, it is important to have a strong grasp on the overall picture, and smooth the way for the best interests of Bountiful.
The Davis County Fund Board helps entrepreneurs who need money beyond what the banks will give them. It is an econoomic board that helps provide small business owners with extra help. For example, the book store on Bountiful Main Street benefited from this board as I fought to get $25,000 from the county to put up a new facade on the store. Bountiful also chipped in to help the book store, and as it is right along Main Street, it looks better, and it improves Bountiful and helps a local city business.
The Chamber of legislative affairs is critical in making decisions. These votes and discussions are about what is happening at the legislation up on capital hill that affects cities. We provide professional expertise that will help cities control their own cities and not allow the state to handcuff the cities. Example is HB82 where the state wanted to control the housing growth in the cities and not allow the cities to keep their own zoning laws. Between the Chamber and the Utah League of Cities and Towns, the bill was watered down enough to let cities keep some control during this housing boom.
I can go on and on, and actually would love to talk to you more about it. Please message me and we can set up a time to meet and talk about all the other things. This is just a small sampling of what the past few years have contained. And as for the future, there are good and bright things coming up, and also situations that need to be addressed.
